"Highly recommend. I have been seeing Lorraine at BHO for multiple years now including visits for both of my children as newborns. So handy to now have a second location on Colombo street! Beautiful, clean clinic and the staff are friendly as always. Overall a great experience and well worth it in my opinion."
What's happening
What's often going on
Babies are doing big work: adjusting from a tightly contained womb space to learning to feed, settle, sleep, and move in a new world.
- 01 A big transition: moving from the tightly contained womb to feeding, settling, and sleeping in a new world
- 02 Feeding and latch: small restrictions in neck rotation or jaw movement can make feeding fussier on one side
- 03 Head shape and position: a strong head-turn preference or lots of back-lying can flatten one side
- 04 Growing and moving fast: rolling, crawling, and early tumbles load a rapidly changing little body
The clearer we are on what's driving things, the sooner we can help you move and feel better.

What patients say
Real stories from Christchurch patients
There is no better measure of our care than the experiences of the people we have helped. Here is what Christchurch patients say about their care.
"We bought our three week old son in for a checkup with Lorraine. Turns out he had a very tight neck and his body was twisted. Lorraine was amazing explaining wha was happing, what she would do to treat the problem and what could happen without treatment. After a short session our son was visibly more flexible and aligned. Thank you."
"Highly recommend, both my newborn baby and I have had treatments and have had awesome results. Super friendly team, plenty of car parking and great appointment availability."
"Jordan was very personable and thorough with our newborn, pleased with our experience."

What can help between visits
Small, safe steps that usually ease day-to-day comfort while you wait for your first appointment.
Tummy time daily
Build up in small increments to support neck and head development.
Vary positions
Avoid one preferred side in carrying, feeding, and sleeping, within safe-sleep guidelines.
Gentle movement
Nappy-change time is a good moment for slow, comfortable stretches.
Notice patterns
Watch which feeds are easier, which positions help settling, and which times of day are harder.
Some signs need medical care
These are uncommon, and we screen for them at every visit. But if any apply, they need medical care rather than Osteopathy.
If any of these apply, contact your GP, an after-hours clinic, or Healthline on 0800 611 116 straight away. In an emergency, call 111.
- Refusing feeds, far fewer wet nappies, or other signs of dehydration
- A high fever, especially in a baby under three months
- Unusually sleepy, floppy, or very hard to wake
- Difficulty breathing, or breathing that looks fast or laboured
- A rash that does not fade when you press on it (call 111)
